Painting the Portrait Sketch in Oils
A portrait sketch is a quick rendition without too much finish, yet with enough information to stand as a completed piece. Working in a very traditional direct (alla prima) approach with live models, we will execute a portrait each night following informative demos and lectures on planes of the head, the all-important egg shape, placement of the features and more. Theory on mixing skin tones, modeling the paint and finishing techniques will be strongly emphasized. If you’ve always wanted to paint a convincing likeness with a minimum of fuss and brushwork that packs the strongest punch, this course may be for you.
