About The Event
After a successful exhibition earlier this year of Australian birds in Sydney, April White continues to be inspired by bird life. ‘Chasing Sparrows’ is a solo painting exhibition with a focus on Canadian birds in April’s hometown of London, Ontario.
These paintings come to us at a time that most of us experience nature more through a screen than in real life. But rather than carry a sense of threat about this predicament, these works deliver a sense of calm wisdom.
The multi-layered, vibrant coloured acrylic paintings remind us of the changing connection between humans and nature. It’s a fragile relationship with the natural world in a digital age. These worlds are dystopian but the beauty in them is self-possessed and confident.
A glimmer of hope remains ever-present in the paintings of April White.
