About Joanna Skiba
Joanna Skiba is an emerging artist in London, Ontario. She has graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Western University and has since joined Good Sport, an artist run gallery. Her work ranges from bright backlit drawings to plush sculptures. Inspired by the pleasure that is experienced by scrolling through social media, she uses the aesthetics of the internet to create work that stimulates those same positive feelings. An interest that Joanna has about the internet is how it is used as a professional playground for adults. On the internet, people can play without judgement as they continue into adulthood. Joanna wants to continue this playground into a gallery space because galleries are places that adults use for fun.
About Emerging Artists Studio Program
The Emerging Artists Studio Program is a fully-funded residency at TAP Centre for Creativity (previously known as The ARTS Project) for recent visual arts graduates launching their artistic careers. This program includes one year of 24/7 access to their own private studio space, a materials budget, marketing support and mentorship, as well as a culminating exhibition in our gallery. Emerging artists can explore their art without the fear of financial failure.
