Jane Piper – Acting Instructor

Having trained extensively for over 30 years in many different acting disciplines and techniques, Jane Piper started right here in London at 8 years old at The Theatre School. She went on to do her BFA Major in Theatre at Concordia University in Montreal, studying all aspects of acting (voice, movement, production…) as well as directing, playwriting and the use of drama in education.

Jane moved to Los Angeles in 1998 to continue her training at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts where she began her education in acting for television and film. Being a professional actor in Los Angeles for 13 years, Jane learned the importance of CONSISTENTLY training and always being in a class “working the muscles” needed to be a serious and focused actor. She trained with some of the best, most celebrated and highly regarded acting teachers and schools in the business: Milton Katselas and The Beverly Hills Playhouse, Diana Castle, Margie Haber, as well as lengthy and comprehensive Improv and sketch comedy training with the legendary Groundlings and Upright Citizens Brigade.

In addition to Improv and sketch comedy, Jane also spent years doing standup comedy and wrote, workshopped and performed several pieces for a one-woman show. Jane’s television, standup and theatre credits include HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, numerous performances at The World Famous Comedy Store and cast member of the sketch comedy troupe Strait Jacket Society. Jane spent two years teaching both professional and beginner actors at The Actor’s Circle in Vancouver before settling back down in London last year. This past Spring she performed in the London Community Players production of Nora and Delia Ephron’s “Love, Loss and What I Wore” at the Palace Theatre. She is so happy to be back in her hometown, excited to begin teaching just blocks away from where her own acting journey began so many years ago.
